METADATA / README FOR TEMPERATURE AND HORIZONTAL WIND DATA FROM SOUSY-INSTALLATION, ADVENTDALEN ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Horizontal winds and neutral air temperatures are dervied from meteor trail detections. Explanations and references can be obtained from the PI. Use of these data require PIs to be acknowledged (preferably contacted regardless). Any publication process should invite the PIs as co-authors. Contact the nominal PI for further information. winds ----- These derived values are at 30 minute time resoution and at the nominal peak meteor echo occurrence altitude of 90 km URL: http:\\radars.uit.no\MWR\NSMR\wind90.txt each line contains year, month, day, hour (UT) and minute followed by zonal and meridional components in m/s Updated daily ("best effort" basis) temperatures ------------ These derived values are day-averages and at the nominal peak meteor echo occurrence altitude of 90 km URL: http:\\radars.uit.no\MWR\NSMR\caltemp.txt each line contains Julian-day, year, month, day, followed by temperature in Kelvin Updated daily ("best effort" basis) Assuming no problems with analyses, this plot shows temperature estimates for the preceding 30 days: URL: http:\\radars.uit.no\MWR\NSMR\caltemp30.png Updated daily ("best effort" basis) data-files ---------- Data-files in the ATRAD (supplier of the radar) standard *.met format are available from URL: URL: http:\\radars.uit.no\MWR\NSMR\yyyymmdd_met.met where yyyy is the year, mm the month and dd the day. Data coverage is on a "best effort" basis. These files will need special software to decode and contain information for derivation of winds and diffusion coefficients; help can be requested from the PI. Archived data in .zip files can be obtained from URL: URL: http:\\radars.uit.no\MWR\NSMRyyyy_met.zip (yyyy being year) Please advise the PI when using these data.
